Muslims condemn Ranjan Ramanayake

ranjan
Several Muslim Organizations in the country have profusely condemned the United National Party Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake for remarks made by him during the 3rd reading debate of the votes of the Ministry of Foreign Employment Development in the parliament last week.

They have demanded that Ramanayake should make an unconditional apology from the Muslim community in Sri Lanka for his vituperative statement about the Shariah Law.

Ramanayake said that the Shariah Law is barbarous and Sri Lanka should stop sending Sri Lankans for employment in Saudi Arabia which is practising the Shariah Law.

On the very day of this statement made by Ramanayake, the UPFA Parliamentarian Mrs. Upeksha Swarnamali also condemned the remarks made by Ramanayake.  The UNP Parliamentarian Kabir Hashim also condemned yesterday Ramanayake’s statement in Parliament and said that Ramanayake should have condemned the monarchic rule of Saudi Arabia instead of condemning the Shariah Law.  (niz).
