Pure Gold Jewellers expanding its presence in Asia has made its much
anticipated entry into and Sri Lanka.
The jewelry manufacturer and retailer has signed on to open five outlets
in Colombo and Kandy and all will be operational within the next few
months, according to the company.
The leading jeweler in the Middle East views Sri Lanka as the first step
towards its long term plan to establish a strong presence in tourist
destinations such as Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius.
Firoz G. Merchant, Chairman of Pure Gold Group has said that the company
will start in Sri Lanka with five stores which will all be fully
operational over the next three months. The jeweler eventually plans to
open 10 stores in the country.
"Sri Lanka is renowned for its rare and precious stones often sought by
Royalty. It is a fascinating country with strong potential for the
jewellery industry especially on the back of a thriving tourism sector,"
Merchant has said.
Pure Gold already has two manufacturing units in India and one in
China. The planned retail chain comprises of 30 shops including duty
free shops and shopping mall based outlets.
